Dr. Sourav Kumar joined our group as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in December 2025. He hails from Amritsar, Punjab and has obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar where he worked on the design and development of π-conjugated systems, their self-assembly behaviour and photocatalytic applications. In his current position, he is working on the design and development of covalent adaptable networks, with an emphasis on understanding their structure–property relationships and functional applications. Outside his academic pursuits, he enjoys playing cricket, badminton and chess.

Institute Postdoctoral Fellow

PhD Students

Tanmaya Das commenced his Ph.D. program in July 2024. He is a recipient of the CSIR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). His research primarily focuses on Covalent Adaptable Networks (CANs)—a class of materials that offers promising solutions for the recycling and reprocessing of cross-linked polymers. He holds an M.Sc. degree from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, Odisha, and completed his B.Sc. at Chitalo Degree Mahavidyalaya, Jajpur, Odisha. Outside of his academic pursuits, he enjoys watching movies and listening to music.

Abhijit Mondal commenced his Ph.D. program in July 2025. He joined the institute through GATE. His research primarily focuses on sustainable polymers. He obtained his M.Sc. from IIT Kharagpur in 2025 and his B.Sc. from Calcutta University. In his free time, he likes to play football, watch movies, and listen to music.

Swarup Pal commenced his Ph.D. program in December 2025. He joined the institute through the institute fellowship. His research primarily focuses on recyclable polymers. He obtained his M.Sc. from West Bengal State University and his B.Sc. from Calcutta University. In his free time, he likes to play cricket and travel.

Upen Kisku began his internship in May 2025, with research focused on Dissociative Covalent Adaptable Networks (CANs). He is currently pursuing his Master of Science degree at IIT Kharagpur, following the completion of his Bachelor of Science degree at Karim City College, Jamshedpur. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing football, watching movies, and listening to music.

Prajwal Khandkure began his internship in May 2025, with research focused on Associative Covalent Adaptable Networks (CANs). He has completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Dayanand Science College, Latur, and is currently pursuing his Master of Science degree at IIT Kharagpur. In his free time, he enjoys singing, playing cricket, and watching directorial discussions.
